The leading pharmaceutical company, Hoffmann-La Roche, Inc., which is the manufacturer of Xenical™ brand of orlistat™, a gastrointestinal lipase inhibitor, has formally recognized the effectiveness of chitosan to tie up fat in the intestinal track. A patent was issued to Hoffmann La Roche on February 29, 2000 (USP # 6,030,953) for the use of chitosan in combination with Xenical™ to improve Xenical’s™ performance. The patent clearly states that their laboratory and clinical trials show that chitosan binds with oil in the intestinal track.
Thank you for recognizing and confirming what we have seen in other clinical trials. Chitosan does tie up oil and fat in the intestinal track.
NutraSense ChitoSense™ uses only the patented LipoSan™ brand of chitosan which is proven in in vitro laboratory tests to be 5 to 10 times more effective than regular chitosan in fat binding.
